Mootly.ai exists because the founders had stood at too many lecterns underprepared for the specific judge in front of them. Generic moots produce generic preparation. Generic preparation gets you generic outcomes. The bench you’re appearing before is not generic. Your preparation shouldn’t be either.
The competitive moat is not the AI. It’s the corpus. We built a scraper that pulls public-record transcripts from court filing systems — primarily NYSCEF for New York, Lex Machina for Delaware Chancery — and assembles them into a structured, speaker-attributed, issue-tagged dataset. The corpus exceeds 10,000 transcripts and is growing weekly.
That work is hard, slow, and unglamorous. It is also the thing nobody else has, and it is what lets a Mootly simulation push back on a brief the way the judge actually pushes back. Every claim the simulation makes about “how this judge rules” is traceable to a citation in the corpus.
Mootly.ai uses professional stock voices, not voice clones of actual judges. We do this for three reasons: no judge has consented to having their voice cloned for commercial use, the legal exposure is significant, and the simulation’s value is in questioning behavior, not in mimicking the timbre of someone’s speech. We tell users this on day one.
The Mootly judge bench will grow. Our roadmap is driven by client demand — every firm-wide and institution license includes the right to request judges, and those requests move judges to the front of the calibration queue. We expect to be at 15–25 calibrated judges by end of 2026, concentrated in commercial litigation forums (NY Comm. Div., Del. Chancery, SDNY commercial parts, federal appellate circuits handling business cases).
